I offered her my seat, but she said in a native accent as thick as our own, \u201cNo thanks I&#8217;ve been sitting for three hours.\u201d She looked at my better-half, \u201cWhy don&#8217;t you offer it to him?\u201d<br \/>\nI said, \u201cI tried, but he&#8217;s been sitting too.\u201d<br \/>\nShe noticed his Playbill in hand and asked, \u201cWhat did you see?\u201d<br \/>\nMe, \u201cWaiting for Godot. Patrick Stewart. Ian McKellan.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cHow was it?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cIt was a preview,\u201d I said diplomatically.<br \/>\nThe better half shrugged in agreement.<br \/>\n\u201cI just came from the Met.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWhat opera?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cRigoletto.\u201d<br \/>\n&#8220;Oh, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marioninnyc.com\/2013\/02\/01\/idiots-at-the-opera-act-iii-or-what-happens-in-vegas\/\">Vegas\u00a0Rigoletto<\/a>.\u201d I said.<br \/>\nShe did an eye-roll. She blamed Peter Gelb. As we headed uptown there was conversation about the unfortunate\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marioninnyc.com\/2013\/10\/17\/idiots-at-the-opera-eugene-onegin-why-is-everyone-standing-so-far-apart\/\">Eugene Onegin<\/a>, as well as some other new productions under Gelb&#8217;s tenure, including the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.metoperafamily.org\/opera\/tosca-puccini-tickets.aspx\">Tosca<\/a> which she saw and we are going to. \u00a0Her theater recommendation was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shakespearebroadway.com\/\">12th Night<\/a> with Mark Rylance \u2013 so we&#8217;re going. She mentioned $26 rush tix. Always a good thing.<br \/>\nGod, I love this city.<\/p>\n<p>And btw\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twoplaysinrep.com\/\">Godot\u00a0and\u00a0No Man&#8217;s Land<\/a> two plays in\u00a0repetoire\u00a0have rush tix going for $30 each including facility fee (cash or credit).Tix may be available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marioninnyc.com\/2013\/09\/12\/the-lady-on-the-line-and-some-hot-tips-about-the-tkts-booth\/\">TKTS<\/a> as well, but rush is probably a better deal.
