{"id":1598,"date":"2012-08-17T11:46:57","date_gmt":"2012-08-17T16:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marioninnyc.com\/?p=1598"},"modified":"2013-03-06T16:07:58","modified_gmt":"2013-03-06T21:07:58","slug":"super-rich-to-middle-class-no-more-free-ride-you-lazy-bums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marioninnyc.com\/?p=1598","title":{"rendered":"Super-Rich to Middle Class \u2014 No More Free Ride You Lazy Bums"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Today&#8217;s guest blog post has been submitted by a &#8220;friend&#8221; writing under the nom de plume, Mr. Richie Moneybags Rich:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time, back in the 1920&#8217;s, there was a lot of new stuff, telephones, movies. <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">A small group of people<\/span> Everyone was getting cars.\u00a0 Good times.\u00a0 Then the stock-market crashed.\u00a0 Party over for <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">widows, orphans, unemployed<\/span> all those bums who hadn&#8217;t sufficiently diversified their portfolios or got <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">swindled<\/span> carried away buying on margin.\u00a0 There are always winners and losers, and generally people get what they <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">inherit<\/span> deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Then that brash, traitor, FDR got elected and <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">declared class-warfare<\/span> started the New Deal.\u00a0 Suddenly it was freebies for everyone!\u00a0 Even the elderly, people who hadn&#8217;t worked in years, could get in social security.\u00a0 Immigrants?\u00a0 <em>Give us your poor,<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/immigration-online.org\/350-anti-semitism.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">except not too many Jews<\/span><\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/immigration-online.org\/350-anti-semitism.html\"> <\/a>etc<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, if he&#8217;d done nothing, the commies might have stepped in, but surely the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homestead_Strike\">Pinkertons<\/a> could have dealt with that! \u00a0 Did he have to take things that far?\u00a0\u00a0 Granted, roads needed to be built, and dams needed to be constructed, but couldn&#8217;t he just have <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">handed out nice big juicy contracts to my grandfather&#8217;s company<\/span> negotiated with the private sector?\u00a0 We all know how much more efficient private industry is when it comes to building things and it was, after all,\u00a0 the <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">slaves<\/span> job-creators who built this country.<\/p>\n<p>Truman tried to continue down the road to creating a <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">stable middle-class<\/span> socialism with his crazy health-care schemes, but fortunately, Congress could <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">be bought off<\/span> see his plan could have been designed by the Rosenbergs themselves..\u00a0 Then that damn LBJ came in and got that garbage Medicare signed, and gave us the Great Society.\u00a0 What&#8217;s so great about paying someone else&#8217;s bills?<\/p>\n<p>The rich have gotten fed up with all those give aways.\u00a0 Like\u00a0 Alan Simpson said, social security is &#8220;a milk cow with 310 million tits.&#8221;\u00a0 Who needs it?\u00a0 Not people making millions every year off their investments and paying less than <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">1%<\/span> 14% in taxes, that&#8217;s for sure.\u00a0 Ditto public education.\u00a0 I mean really, what kind of concerned parent would send his child to a public school in the first place?\u00a0 Why should I pay for someone else&#8217;s child to get a sub-standard education?\u00a0 Besides, do you know what they teach in those places? It&#8217;s all <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">science <\/span>evolution and global warming, not to mention their stand on the War of Northern Aggression. Plus, that means I&#8217;m paying the salary for some strangers&#8217; kids&#8217; teachers, and we all know how high on the hog those lazy-asses live.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re going to resent somebody, it&#8217;s those gosh darn <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LoSmWK_-x4g&amp;feature=player_detailpage\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">teachers, police, and firefighters<\/span><\/a> municipal workers\u00a0 that you should look to. And don&#8217;t even get me started on Pell grants and low interest student loans.\u00a0 Sheesh, get a job!<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s not all. \u00a0 Even public transportation is supported through taxes!\u00a0 Public transportation!\u00a0 As though I&#8217;d be caught dead on bus.\u00a0 Amirite?\u00a0 Bastards even get &#8220;special&#8221; lanes.<\/p>\n<p>And of course there&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Romneycare<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">the Affordable Care Act<\/span> Obamacare!\u00a0 Naturally, people are outraged to be paying for <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">equitable healthcare for women<\/span> some slut&#8217;s contraception, but that&#8217;s just the tip of the iceberg.\u00a0 Do you have any idea how much it costs when sick people with no insurance just &#8220;show up&#8221; in an emergency room?\u00a0 How could someone be so irresponsible to choose <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">feeding your child and paying rent over preventive care <\/span>not to plan for emergencies?\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Really, there should be a law!<\/span> Why not just allow people <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">inadequate<\/span> vouchers\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">to benefit companies I have stock in<\/span> or pay out of pocket <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">sell their homes<\/span>?\u00a0 Some <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">total loon<\/span> nice lady politician out West had a plan for <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/04\/lowden-doubles-down-on-health-care-by-barter.php\">bartering for healthcare <\/a>and just got derided for it by <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">every news outlet except Fox<\/span> the lamestream media.\u00a0 And if they\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">can&#8217;t possibly<\/span> refuse to pay for medical care, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rawreplay\/2011\/09\/tea-party-audience-cheers-letting-the-uninsured-die\/\">why treat them at all<\/a>? <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">If they&#8217;d rather die let them do it and decrease the surplus population<\/span>.\u00a0 I mean it&#8217;s not like you can just walk into a supermarket, say &#8220;I&#8217;m hungry&#8221; and get a bunch of free food unless of course you&#8217;re on food stamps, IMHO.<\/p>\n<p>To top it off, these &#8220;middle income&#8221; slackers get tax breaks!\u00a0 Mortgage deductions.\u00a0 What&#8217;s <em>that <\/em>about?\u00a0 Sure if they lose it, so do I, but I&#8217;m willing to <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">find other shelters<\/span> make the sacrifice.\u00a0 Deductions for college savings.\u00a0 Since when did college become something <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">minorities, women, the poor, not our kind of people<\/span> everyone <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">should have the opportunity<\/span> is forced to go to?\u00a0 What kind of elitist b.s is that? \u00a0It&#8217;s not like you can&#8217;t get a <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">minimum wage or lower off-the-books<\/span> job without a degree.<\/p>\n<p>Plus there&#8217;s even a deduction for state taxes.\u00a0 Why should you get a tax break because you live in a state where y<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">ou can still find a job with union protection <\/span>that offers better schools and services?\u00a0 That&#8217;s your choice, not mine, buddy.<\/p>\n<p>You can see how all this is patently unfair to those of us who <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">inherited<\/span> worked hard\u00a0 to get our money.\u00a0 As a job creator i<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">n Thailand and China<\/span> who has saved for a rainy day <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">in the Cayman Islands<\/span>, I deeply resent paying for programs I personally don&#8217;t need and will never use.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">I mean, it&#8217;s not like I get to deduct for my recreational activities like that horse I took to the Olympics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What makes it worse is all this petty emphasis on &#8220;percentages.&#8221;\u00a0 They don&#8217;t tell you what it really means.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what it comes down to &#8212;\u00a0 if you are supporting a family <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">and I can&#8217;t imagine how<\/span> on a taxable income of $50,000 a year, you&#8217;re going to pay about $7,274 in federal income tax.\u00a0 That&#8217;s 14.5% of your income, not counting what they take out of your paycheck for social security.\u00a0 And what do you get for it?\u00a0 All those goodies I mentioned earlier.\u00a0 But I don&#8217;t need any of that.\u00a0 You, the middle class, are in effect taking money out of my pocket to get services I&#8217;ll never use.\u00a0 What if you won 100 million dollars in the lottery tomorrow?\u00a0 Is that what it would take for you to have a little bit of empathy?<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, do you have any idea of what I pay to support your &#8220;lifestyle&#8221;? <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">No, and I pay people good money to keep it that way<\/span>.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s say, I&#8217;m paying the same percentage as you, <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">.085%<\/span> 14.5% on a taxable\u00a0 income of a modest\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">50<\/span> 7 million a year.\u00a0 I&#8217;d be paying over a million dollars in taxes <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">if I paid taxes.<\/span> Can you even imagine what a million dollars looks like? <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Believe me, it&#8217;s very pretty, and in the right denominations can be packed in a carry-on bag if heaven forbid you ever fly commercial. <\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><\/span> I&#8217;m already paying 140 times as much as you are.\u00a0 140 times!\u00a0 I mean what&#8217;s &#8220;progressive&#8221; about a system where one person pays 140 times what someone else pays?<\/p>\n<p>Sure, some people might argue that a strong middle class creates a stronger market <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">like what happened in America after World War II or all that growth during the Clinton years,<\/span> and that America is falling behind because we don&#8217;t have a first rate educational system <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">and they&#8217;d be right<\/span>, but those are the type of\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Democrats and anyone even slightly left of Ronald Reagan<\/span> latte-drinking elitists\u00a0 that forget that America isn&#8217;t exceptional because of our entitlements, but rather America\u00a0 is exceptional because we have\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/blogs\/daily-ticker\/income-inequality-america-biggest-challenge-says-united-nations-162328171.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">a very high rate of income inequality compared to other developed countries<\/span> <\/a>our Constitution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s guest blog post has been submitted by a &#8220;friend&#8221; writing under the nom de plume, Mr. Richie Moneybags Rich: Once upon a time, back in the 1920&#8217;s, there was a lot of new stuff, telephones, movies.
